Allergies: peanuts, tree nuts, sesame
Lizzy enjoys baking, hiking, rock climbing, and listening to music.
In the future, I hope to improve public health through congressional action, with an interest in disability policy. My passion for this field has developed from my own hardships living with multiple life-threatening food allergies as well as my work as an Inclusion Aide for children with disabilities. At age five, I was diagnosed with an allergy to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, and sunflower seeds. Having access to safe foods has been a necessity for me, which is why I deeply value Securing Safe Food’s mission. In addition to my work at SSF, I am affiliated with several other food allergy organizations, such as Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE). Here, my advocacy highlights have included lobbying on Capitol Hill for the FASTER Act and sharing my story at various conferences. Being a part of such a driven, powerful community inspires me to speak out for change.Â
